Most Incompetent Instacart Shopper Sparks Infuriating Discussion on Men Grocery Shopping

With everything going on in the world for women right now, it just feels like we just keep going more and more backwards… Now we have to worry about our Instacart orders?? TikToker @mustard_lady recently posted a “storytime” video that went viral.

She was grocery shopping when a man kept asking her the most absurd and frankly annoying questions—it's like he was a child. He kept asking her what kind of veggies he was holding were and where they were, even though there were signs clearly marking everything. Can he not read?? Also, keep in mind, this TikToker does not work at the grocery store, she was just there trying to shop on her own. It didn't stop there. He came up to her almost a dozen times asking her questions with obvious answers and then before he left he came up to her and asked her where his car keys were… He went to a stranger in a grocery store to ask if she had seen his car keys… Like, what?? Am I taking crazy pills?? How did that cross that man's mind as a good idea?? He even proceeded to ask her questions about his own car, like he didn't have a phone in his hand and could Google everything himself. The order was canceled due to this man's incompetence.

“Men really put the invisible in invisible labor”

The entire encounter is perplexing, but maybe this was a guy just having an off day… a really off day. However, TikTokers are not buying that excuse and many have their own stories of men being completely incompetent at the grocery store.

“This guy was very comfortable going up to strangers asking them to to his job for him," the TikToker says in a follow-up videos. “Let me tell you why he wasn't having a bad day; he wasn't flustered, he wasn't rushed, he was very comfortable just walking up to me and other people in the grocery store and just being like, ‘hey, what do I do?’—I think the bigger issue here is that we as a society really undervalue labor that is traditionally done by women, like grocery shopping…"

Follow-Up

She also adds that he was being “very disrespectful” to the food—he was touching everything, throwing things around, putting things back in the incorrect spot, just having the most embarrassing grocery store edict. Viewers are commenting about how often they've come across men being completely incompetent when grocery shopping. Some women have had such awful experience with male Instacart shoppers that now if they see they got a man doing their shopping, they'll cancel the order. It's not even Instacart shoppers, but husbands, boyfriends, or just random men in the grocery store who turn to women they don't even know to do the shopping for them. It's simply perplexing to everyone since there are signs everywhere, employees who are paid to help you, and the grocery store is set up in a strategic order to make the shopping easier…

Did these mothers really never teach their kid how to grocery shop? Isn't it just a basic part of survival in today's society??…
