From creating "NFTs you can hold" aka analog NFTs aka art irl to screenshiddin, screensharting, screensharking—NFTs have become the new epic punchline to TikTokers. These digital art files might be selling for thousands to millions of dollars, but TikTok truly does not care.
Oooh, NFTs. What is there to say about NFTs that hasn't been said already?
NFTs have been getting heat for the entire year they've been around. They're digital art you can purchase online and then have the file of. They've sold for hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars and are the new online exchange talk, completely overshadowing crypto currency in the headlines. But many think the obvious, why the hell would you pay that much for a picture that isn't tangible in real life and can be duplicated as much as the Internet wants to? TikTok seems to hate NFTs and the people who defend them.
Technically, you're the only actual “owner” of the creation. Sure, people can screenshot it and save it to their own computer. But you'll be the only real owner of the unique set of hashtags and other properties of the NFTs, making it “unique.”
But how truly “unique” can an NFT be if you don't give a sh*t about crypto art or any crypto exchange? People on TikTok are really ragging hard on NFTs. From taking screenshoots over people saying they're not allowed to screenshots, to showing off you “analog” NFT as an "NFT you can hold.”
TikTokers really know how to hit people where it hurts, but they dgaf. NFT people are crumbling at the new trend of sh*ting on NFTs. What's viral about this crypto art is how absurd the entire world of crypto art is.
One commenter said, “I heard it's like Khol's cash.” Another said, “I'll buy one of your screensharts, sir.” It really just keeps unraveling and unraveling and for non-NFT people, it's satisfyingly hilarious.
Are NFTs the new bitcoin? Will NFT art galleries start popping up in the metaverse? Will tangible art eventually become obsolete? If we've learned anything from the crypto crazes that have come and go, no. NFTs will not replace life irl… TikTok seems to think NFTs are just a scam.
